With both sides preparing for a lengthy fight in Alaska’s surprisingly close U.S. Senate Republican primary, insurgent Tea Party favorite Joe Miller is pulling out all the stops against incumbent Lisa Murkowski , accusing her of trying to “pull an Al Franken.”

Miller, the top vote-getter so far, said in an interview with Fox Business Network that Murkowski has sought legal counsel from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, raising the prospect of a drawn-out legal battle a la 2008/2009 Minnesota Senate race.

“[It] concerns us any time that somebody lawyers up and, you know, tries to pull an Al Franken, if you will,” Miller said

Miller, who got the support of former ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, leads Murkowski by some 1,668 votes, with about 16,000 absentee ballots left to count.

Actually, by Minnesota standards, that might be an insurmountable lead.
