Star Tribune reporter Kevin Duchschere sends this update from the field.

"You know it's been a long night and it's going to be a bit longer tonight," Margaret Anderson Kelliher told a crowd of supporters. "We have some numbers to come in yet and we're optimistic about that."

She thanked everyone, called the campaign a fine example of "grassroots democracy," and left the stage.

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison followed her. "We are proud to be DFLers tonight and we're going to stay with our candidate until we hear anything else!" he thundered.

It was left to Sertich to state what everyone was thinking. "We're not going to know the final results this evening," he said. "Please everyone drive home safely in this weather."

The crowd left, chanting "Margaret, Margaret, Margaret!"
