Just days away from the DFL primary, gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza released an ad Thursday lashing out at Margaret Anderson Kelliher for questioning his No Child Left Behind proposal.

Entenza has made opting out of No Child Left Behind a key bulletpoint of his platform. But Kelliher said at a debate last week that the state stands to lose about $500 million by doing so.

"Matt, we have to be honest, no state has opted out of No Child Left Behind," Kelliher said. "Do we think President Obama is going to allow Minnesota out? I don't think so."

Entenza's ad responds: "Margaret Kelliher is attacking Matt Entenza, saying we can't afford to lose [NCLB]. But studies show that Minnesota is forced to spend as much for No Child Left Behind as we get from Washington."

Kelliher campaign manager Jaime Tincher sent a statement this afternoon denouncing the Entenza camp for running "negative, misleading TV ads" so soon before the DFL primary.
