YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Elizabeth Asbill, a fifth-grader from Pine Bend Elementary School in Inver Grove Heights, petted an 8-foot boa constrictor while visiting the Capitol on “Zoo Day.”
The State Capitol was wilder and woollier than usual Tuesday when the Minnesota Zoo's director and CEO, Lee Ehmke, brought an array of creatures to St. Paul. The annual "Zoo Day at the State Capitol" is a way to thank legislators for supporting funding of the Apple Valley zoo and to explain why continued support is necessary. Ehmke and others associated with the zoo brought cockroaches, giant millipedes, chinchillas, bearded dragons, tarantulas and other critters to the rotunda.
