YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
DES MOINES, Iowa - A Nov. 7 Iowa Republican Party event headlined by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be televised nationally on C-SPAN and will feature six potential candidates for governor, including Terry Branstad.
Pawlenty is frequently mentioned as a potential 2012 presidential candidate, and this will be his first Iowa appearance since the general election. Because of Iowa's leadoff role in the presidential nominating process, Pawlenty's speech has prompted plenty of speculation about his plans.
But Iowa Republicans will be equally interested in seeing former Gov. Branstad join other candidates for the first time since quitting his job as president of Des Moines University to consider seeking the nomination.
Others attending the event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds are Jerry Behn, Christian Fong, Christopher Rants, Rod Roberts and Bob Vander Plaats.
