ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota's Legislative Auditor says the office of Attorney General Lori Swanson has a few minor lapses in internal bookkeeping.
The report says Swanson's office overall was run in adequate fashion.
Auditors looked at the office from the beginning of Swanson's term in January 2007 through March of this year. Swanson is a Democrat.
The lapses included $1.5 million in subscriptions and other purchases that did not follow state purchasing policies, improvements to leased space without a required lease amendment, improper salary increases during one budget year and overtime without documented approval.
Rebecca Spartz, Swanson's director of administration, says the office will follow state policies pointed out in the audit. She says the purchases were routine and had not required outside approval in earlier years.
