WASHINGTON -- President Obama endorsed Angie Craig for Congress on Monday.

Craig's endorsement came in a batch of 30 endorsements the White House announced on Monday. Last week, Obama cut a video and endorsed Terri Bonoff -- the Democratic challenger to incumbent Republican Rep. Erik Paulsen.

Craig is running in the Second Congressional District's open seat against Republican Jason Lewis. The seat is being vacated by Republican Rep. John Kline, who is retiring.

Craig's campaign released a statement saying she was "deeply humbled" to be endorsed by Obama -- who's national approval has tipped above 55 percent recently.

"From his commitment to lifting the Cuban trade embargo to his 'moonshot' to cure cancer, he has also given the country cause for hope and created opportunities that the next Congress must seize."

A Lewis spokesman emails:

"It's no surprise the president endorsed a member from his own party who is running to expand the cornerstone piece of legislation of his presidency -- Obamacare. Angie Craig will be a rubber stamp for the left wing agenda."
