WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday with the bipartisan leadership of Congress.

Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will meet in the Oval Office with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

The meeting comes at the height of Senate debate over immigration legislation. Obama on Monday called on the House to act promptly after the Senate votes on the legislation, with hopes of completing the immigration overhaul before Congress takes its August recess.

Obama last met with all four leaders on March 1 after he and Congress were unable to avoid automatic budget cuts from taking effect.

The meeting will be private and closed to the media.
