In May 2008, the state’s interest in ethanol to fuel vehicles was peaking as Rich Burton, a sales rep, filled his Chevy Suburban at a station in Minneapolis before an out-of-state sales call. The E85 cost him $2.87 per gallon, while regular unleaded gasoline was $3.52 there that morning.
