Organizer and prize presenter Christopher Sandberg joked with He Li, who beat 27 other young spelling experts to take first place. “I feel great,” said Li, a student at Central Middle School in Eden Prairie. “I didn’t expect to get this far.” He will travel to the national tournament in Washington, D.C., in May.
