Long Meadow Lake in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge does not produce as many waterfowl broods as similar lakes, and officials say pollutants and road salt flowing through storm sewers are changing the ecosystem. With fewer invertebrates and insects to eat, ducks don’t tend to nest here.
