Capt. John M. Tate received the Silver Star for his actions while conducting combat operations in the Malaab district of Ramadi, Iraq. Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno awarded the medal during a Dec. 4 ceremony at Al Taqaddum Air Base, Iraq.
