A picture perfect arch-roof dairy barn, built in 1942 on what was once an Eden Prairie farm is threatened by the widening of Pioneer Trail on the west side of Eden Prairie and the clock is rapidly ticking on its fate. The white and tan barn and attached silo stands in full view of passing traffic as an icon of a by-gone era when a farmer could make a living with 25 to 30 milk cows, said Robert Vogel, an architectural historian hired to advise Hennepin County, Eden Prairie and the State of Minnesota on the historic value of the barn. In historic preservation terms its a Wisconsin type dairy barn - a perfect example of what a Midwestern farm barn should be, Vogel said. Its a very graceful, very pretty building. From the exterior you will never find a prettier barn. Its in mint condition - its something to see.
