Did anyone else find something slightly absurd or ironic about Rep. Keith Ellison's teleconference with the Egyptian press and academicians on behalf of the State Department (Star Tribune, May 7)?
How crazy that Ellison felt he had to assure these folks that "America is getting better, getting more tolerant and inclusive of all people." Our great country's diverse population, its modern track record of inclusiveness and scrupulous protection of individual rights speak for themselves. I wish Ellison could have turned the mike and camera around and asked the overwhelmingly Arab-Muslim Egyptians -- whose country has driven out or subjugated every other kind of people -- if they even understand what "tolerant and inclusive" means.
