Letter of the day: Why doesn't city make more use of plaza?

Preservation Alliance of Minnesota

Peavey Plaza on Minneapolis’ Nicollet Mall: It can be home to much more than Minnesota Orchestra Sommerfest events.

Last update: May 7, 2008 - 6:15 PM

The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota announced last week that Peavey Plaza in downtown Minneapolis is on its list of 10 Most Endangered Historic Places. Why doesn't the city start sponsoring events on the plaza? Concerts, lectures, artist exhibits, arts and crafts, and other special interest get-togethers would bring life back into this beautiful plaza. With great restaurants across the street, it seems a natural for a great place to spend some time downtown.
