On my way to work today through south Minneapolis, I witnessed no fewer than three people with fancy two-stage snowblowers removing snow from their sidewalks and driveways in a beautiful high arch, right back into the snow-emergency street that had just been plowed for safety and ease.

This is a fine example of the "my personal convenience is more important than my community's welfare" attitude that is unfortunately so prevalent in our culture. Minneapolis was able to stop the autumn behavior of raking leaves into the street by making it illegal. It's time to do the same thing for snow.
