Letter of the day: We're reaping what the Legislature sowed

Last update: March 5, 2008 - 6:39 PM

The March 2 editorial against expanding a citizen's right to self-defense ("No need to expand state self-defense laws") refused to acknowledge the environment that the Legislature has created. If we stopped attracting nonworking people from Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit and Mexico with our lavish welfare giveaways, law-abiding citizens would have less to fear. If we reversed our extremely high parole rate and extremely low incarceration rate, law-abiding citizens would have less to fear. We created government to preserve our life and property. When it actively works against that mission, it drives us all back to the "Wild West."
