My friend lives in downtown Minneapolis to be close to the arts, fine restaurants and shopping. She loves the vibrancy of the city and feels I am deprived living in the suburbs. Whenever it rains, however, she rolls her eyes and gets out her umbrella. I love the rain and the anticipation of a good storm when hearing the distant thunder. I love the sound of rain pounding the roof, the cozy feeling inside my home and, of course, what it does for the trees, my lawn, shrubs and flowers. It is amazing what can grow in sandy soil, but in my neck of the woods we always need the rain. It is truly a blessing! When it rains downtown, all my friend has to look forward to is a wet sidewalk.
