I'm a Vietnam-era vet. My tour of duty was thankfully ancient history when my former unit ended up in Vietnam later in the '60s. But my two younger brothers were military officers serving in southeast Asia about the time of Minnesota 8 activism.
Sad to say, I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the Minnesota 8 court cases at the time they occurred, but it's my opinion that these activists served our country as valiantly as any military personnel on any foreign battle line.
They were first-class patriots serving their country. Since the time I first met Minnesota 8 member Frank Kroncke about two years ago, his message has been consistent. As he is quoted in the article, "What I hope the play ['Peace Crimes'] can do is start families talking and provide a context for intergenerational dialogue."
Right on. We look forward to the play.
