LILLIAN S. BABE DAVIS

The Board of Trustees and staff of the Walker Art Center mourn the passing of their former Honorary Trustee, whose steadfast commitment to the Walker was deeply appreciated. Babe first became involved with the Walker in 1961 as a member of the Collectors Club. She then joined the Board of Trustees in 1969 and was an Honorary Trustee at the time of her passing. During her 43 years of exceptional service on the Walker Board, Babe generously supported many exciting initiatives including the creation of a highly regarded museum facility in 1971, the building of a significant endowment in the 1970s and 1980s, the launching of a free 11-acre Sculpture Garden in 1988, and the completion of the Herzog and de Meuron expansion in 2005. In addition, Babe donated and purchased many works of art for the Walker as well as established an Acquisition Fund which will continue to bring new pieces into the collection. Her contribution to the vitality of the Walker is truly amazing. She will be greatly missed. The Walker extends heartfelt condolences to her sons Stephen and Lawrence and their extended family and friends. The Board of Trustees & staff of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN.
