Emkovik, John B. June 6, 1927 to Sept. 4, 2015 Age 88, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, passed away Sept. 4, 2015. He is survived by his family: wife Cathy Emkovik; daughter Caitlin (Craig) Griffin; son Scott (Lisa) Emkovik; son Andre Emkovik; grandsons Andy and Alex Emkovik, and many friends. John was a life-long teacher of a variety of subjects, most notably Russian language and history -- profoundly influencing 3 generations of students before retiring from the South St. Paul School system. He was a former football and hockey player, scratch golfer, graduate and staunch supporter of Bemidji State University, and a WWII navy veteran. In addition to his many civic activities and accomplishments, John was also passionate about his cabin, fishing, and grandsons. His colorful and engaging personality is well known. He will be greatly missed by family, neighbors, and many friends. His life will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 1:00 PM with a memorial service at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 733 Portland Ave. St. Paul, MN 55104.
