Lick, Jane (nee Samels) Friendship Village Resident Jane Lick (nee Samels), 90, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015, at her home in Bloomington, MN. Jane was born on October 11, 1924, to parents Raymond and Ruth Samels. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, where she met the love of her life, Louis Lick. She was a life-long member of Alpha Phi Sorority, and one of the earliest volunteers for Fairview Southdale Hospital Hospice. Jane and Louie enjoyed a wonderful retirement of 30 years, splitting time between Rio Verde, AZ, and their beloved home on Clearwater Lake, MN, and travelled extensively throughout the world. The friendships they made truly lasted a lifetime, as many friends followed them to Friendship Village, where Jane and Louie spent their remaining years. Jane was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. She also enjoyed golf, tennis, and was an excellent bridge player to the end. Jane is survived by her sisters, Mary Pease and Susan Knudson, her children, Barb Schmitz, Debi Douty (Doug), and Charles Lick (Jennifer), 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Louis, her son, David, her son-in-law, James, and her sister, Martha Stammerjohn. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Edina, MN. A celebration of Jane's life will be held at Friendship Village, 8102 Highwood Drive, Bloomington, on Monday, September 14, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
