Britton, Doyle (John) age 85, of Mpls., passed away on July 7, 2015. California native, graduate of UCLA class of 1952, lettering in water polo. Selected as alternate goalie to the Pan Am Games. Proud graduate of Cal Tech with a Ph.D in chemistry. Retired 44 year chemistry professor at the U of MN with a specialty in crystallography. Doyle was a Renaissance man - he was an athlete, a scientist, a lover of poetry and literature, a mountain climber and a traveler. "It is hard if not impossible...to think of a kinder, gentler, and more caring man than Doyle." Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Judy G.; children, Jenny, David (Amy) and Mary Katherine; grandchildren, Seth, Joe and Eli; nephews, Don (Jennifer) Hirsh, Tom (Deb) Hirsh; nieces, Paula (Dave) Koeller, Bonnie Reibman; relatives, co-workers and friends. Memorial Service Monday, July 13th at 4 PM, with gathering 3 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1500 Franklin Ave SE, Mpls. Meal in the Fellowship Hall to follow service.
