Schmidt, Barbara J. of Eagan, passed away Fri., May 29, 2015, two days before her 79th birthday. Preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Arthur and Robert "Sunny" and sister-in law Patricia. Barb was a longtime champion of public parks, spending her work years as director of the Eagan park system and subsequently Parks Director for Dakota County. She also served on the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission. Her love of nature, and her unwavering commitment to making it available to the public through the park systems was a driving force in her life. Barb was an avid reader, gardener, grower of hundreds of African Violets; she enjoyed the outdoors and loved sailing the Apostle Islands on the family's sailboat. Survived by husband, Barton; daughter Bonnie (Eric); son Daniel; nieces, nephews, and many life long friends. Gathering will be Thursday, June 4th, 4 - 7 p.m. at J.S.
