Barsch, Ronald (aka "Rip") of Bemidji, MN, passed away on 8/27/14 at the age of 71. Ronald was born on 4/21/43 in Troy, IL to parents John & Martha Barsch, nee Martha Sinskey. Ronald graduated from Troy High School, Troy, IL, in 1961 and was drafted into the US Army where he served in the US military from 1964-1966 in the Vietnam War. Ron was awarded a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal during his service. Ronald was very proud of his military service and was an active member in the American Legion. Ron was united in marriage to Dianne Wesemann in 1966 and they had 7 children. Ronald worked at Swift meat packing company in St. Louis, MO for several years until he had health difficulties related to Agent Orange. Ronald and wife Dianne and family moved to Backus, MN in 1987. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Ronna; sisters, Jay, Adeline and brother, John. At the time of Ronald's death, he was survived by sister, Joan and brother, Don, who have since passed away. Ron is survived by his children, Deanne Zwick, Ogden, IA, Jeff Barsch-Olson of North Branch, MN, Kevin Barsch of Bemidji, MN, Becky Barsch of Baudette, MN, Kristy Barsch of Baudette, MN, Michael Barsch of Red Lake, MN. Also survived by grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel Zwick of Iowa, Jude, River and Shiloh Barsch of Bemidji, MN, Colter and Caden Stein of Williams, MN, and Kitty Barsch of Red Lake, MN. Ronald is survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held June 12 at 1 pm at the VA Cemetery, Fort Ripley, Little Falls, MN.
