Brown, Eric MD Sept. 27, 1970 - Mar. 12, 2015 age 44 of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on March 12, 2015 of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS.) Preceded in death by father, Denis. Survived by mother Joanne, twin sister Kristin, wife Lisa, daughters Veronica and Kaia, sisters-in-law Karen (David) and Jessie, nephews Andrew and Marshall and niece Ayla. He graduated from Stillwater High School, Macalester College, and The University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a psychiatric residency, practicing at the VA medical center in the PTSD clinic for over 10 years, (serving as medical director for the last six.) He was president of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society in 2011-12, was named Psychiatrist of The Year by the Minnesota Psychiatric Society in 2013, and was given the VA Undersecretary's Hearts and Hands award in 2014. In his free time, Eric loved studying philosophy, economics, evolution and brain science, much of which informed his teaching of psychiatry. He was deeply loved, left us too soon and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to ALS Association of Minnesota. Memorial service to be held at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, 3400 Dupont Ave. S., Mpls on Sat. March 28 at 2:00 pm, (612) 825-1701. Private interment.
