Sandra K. Hanson

Hanson, Sandra Kathleen "Sandy" age 77, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Sandy was born March 18, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Claud and Mona (Mason) Holzinger. Mrs. Hanson was preceded in death by her first husband Pastor John Hanson in 1984, and later remarried. Her second husband, Ronald Hanson preceded her in death in the year 2000. Surviving are her children Deborah (Dennis) Hoover of Elkhart, Indiana, Stephen (Linnea) Hanson of Vancouver, Washington, and Pamela Hanson of Elkhart, Indiana. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Betsy Hoover, Ronald Hanson, Naomi Hanson, and Mason Hanson, as well as her sister Gail Ludowise of Vancouver, Washington. Surviving as well are several step children and step grandchildren. Her sister Gretchen Holzinger preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at Walley-Mills Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart, IN. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 11 am celebration of Sandy's life on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 CR 18, Goshen, Indiana 46528. Pastor John Hogsett will preside. Sandy was a graduate of IUSB, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Math and Finance. She was employed for many years as the Finance Director for the city of Reedsport, Oregon before retiring 20 years ago. She spent half the year in Elkhart, IN, and the other half of the year at her cabin on Clearwater Lake in Leonard, Minnesota. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, and was very fond of her dog, Stanley. Sandy was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
