Olson, Elizabeth Ann (Betty), nee Johnson died peacefully at Jones-Harrison Residence on February 13, 2015, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 90 years old. Betty is survived by her five children: Judith Ann Wilson (Kennard) of South Bend, Indiana; Dale LeRoy Olson (Sandra) of Madison, Wisconsin; Janeth Kay Pfile (Steve) of Freeport, Illinois; Ronald James Olson (Linda) of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Joyce Louise Kirkeide (Jon) of Oak Grove, Minnesota. Survivors also include Betty's nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, Genevieve, Marlys, and Carol, and her husband, Albert L. Olson, who died July 7, 2011. Betty was born on December 1, 1924, to George and Agnes (nee Broten) Johnson, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis. She married Albert L. Olson on June 16, 1946, in Minneapolis, and they were married 65 years. As a young woman, Betty worked at Woolworths on Cedar Avenue. Later, she was employed by Montgomery Wards in St. Paul for 20 years before retiring. Betty was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework. Albert and Betty loved camping and were active in Christian Campers Association for many years. She had a deep faith, and Al and Betty were always involved in their church. Betty was very active, enjoying baking, crocheting, singing in the church choir, reading, creating beautiful quilts and afghans for family and friends. Most characteristically, Betty was always a gentle homemaker, a gracious host, a kind and loving person; her smile never faded even through her long, final struggle with Alzheimer's disease. A visitation is scheduled Friday, February 20th from 4:30 - 5:30 at Jones-Harrison Residence, 3700 Cedar Lake Avenue in Minneapolis. Memorial Service to follow at 6:00. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Jones-Harrison Residence who provided such great care, respect, and kindness to Betty over the past three years.
