Jacobsen, James P. age 67, of Crown Point, IN, passed away of natural causes at his home on Monday, January 12, 2015. Born on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa; the fourth of nine children, to Elmer L. & Kathryn Searle Jacobsen. Jim grew up in Minneapolis, MN; lived in Portland, OR and Hanover Park, IL, before moving back to Crown Point in 2010, upon his retirement from Ohlson Investigation and Security, where he was General Manager and Vice President. Jim graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1965, was an Officer Candidate and honorably discharged from the Army. He attended Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, and graduated from St. Cloud State in Minnesota with a degree in journalism. Jim was a long-time member of the Henry Northsider's Club, an avid reader and golfer. Survivors include siblings: Beth Jacobsen of Saint Cloud, MN; Lynn (Gail) Jacobsen of Vacaville, CA; Mike (Stephanee) Jacobsen of Englewood, FL; Bob (Stephanie) Jacobsen of Richmond, IN; Mary Victoria (James) Dennis of Elmhurst, IL and Alison Jacobsen of Cedar Lake, IN; many nieces and nephews, including Evan Levin of Crown Point, with whom he had been very close. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Christopher Jacobsen and John Jacobsen; and his former wife, Carole Resch. Private burial of cremains will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Crown Point, with a Memorial Service to be held later at the family's discretion.
