Harris Joan Margaret, 72, of Minnetonka, died on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN. Joan was born in Hallock, MN on January 12, 1930, the daughter of Henry & Esther (Dahl) Lindberg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Hallock High School in 1948. She received her degree in Education from the University of Minnesota in 1952 and taught in Hilo, Hawaii, Redwood City, CA, and St. Louis Park, MN, and in later years, taught in the ``Title I'' teaching program and the English as a Second Language Program for the Vietnamese immigrants. On October 8, 1955, Joan was united in marriage to Robert E. Harris of Granite Falls, MN. The couple settled in Minnetonka and became members of the Minnetonka Lutheran Church in 1956, where Joan was active in many organizations until her stroke in 1992. Joan is survived by her husband, Robert of Mtka; daughter, Elizabeth Holte of Eden Prairie; sons, Paul (Julie) Harris of Edina, Robert Jr. (Christine) Harris of Eden Prairie; 5 grandchildren, Nels & Kari Holte of Eden Prairie, Anna & Emily Harris of Edina and Charles Harris of Eden Prairie; sister, Jean (Robert) Gregory of Scottsdale, AZ; and brother, Duane (Gwen) Lindberg of Baudette, MN; several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Esther Lindberg and her sister, Erlyce Larson. Memorial service Friday, May 17, 2 pm at Minnetonka Lutheran Church, 16023 Mtka Blvd., Minnetonka, MN. Memorials preferred to MN Landscape Arboretum.
