Hoyt, C. Sherman, MD 86, of Edina passed away Jan. 7, 2015. Sherman attended Dartmouth College and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. After medical school, he joined the Air Force and delivered more than 800 babies. He went on to complete a fellowship in pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic and was one of the founding partners of Southdale Pediatrics. Sherman married the love of his life, Helen Korbel, in 1952 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where they remained members. He was a devoted husband to Helen for nearly 63 years. Together they were longtime volunteers at Camp Courage. Sherman was an Edina Rotarian, loved to travel, and was a history buff and voracious reader. He was an involved dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who lit up when kids were around. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Erma; and sister, Carol Mossman. Sherman is survived by his wife, Helen; children Thomas (Jeanne), Sally Amundson, and Steve (Sandra); grandchildren Emily (Darren) Ostern, Allison Hoyt, Will (Laura Melcher) Amundson, Taylor Hoyt, and Drew Hoyt; great-grand-children Elyse and Lucy Ostern; brother Robert (Pat) Hoyt; and many friends. Memorial service will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, at 11 AM, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 4439 West 50th St., Edina, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials welcome to Camp Courage (True Friends), 10509 108th St. NW, Annandale, MN 55302, Fraser, or donor's choice.
