Hultstrand, Donald Edwin After a long illness Don Hultstrand, 82, passed away on December 27, 2014 surrounded by his family. Don was born March 9, 1932 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Andrew O. and Myrtle Lillian (Cruikshank) Hultstrand. Don grew up in Hibbing, MN, and was a 1950 graduate of Hibbing High School. He attended Hibbing Junior College and received a Bachelors in Business Administration from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN in 1956. Don served in the United States Army as an Artillery Staff Sergeant from 1953-1955. Don worked in the food packaging industry with the same Company for 42 years. He retired from James River Corporation in Kalamazoo in April of 1996, where he was employed in Sales Management and Marketing. Shortly after his retirement from James River, he worked as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Field Container Company in Battle Creek, MI. He most enjoyed the challenges his sales career presented. Don always said that he married well. Don married Sally Magie on July 23, 1955 in Duluth, MN. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Sally, his children Andrea (John) Gay of Delton, Donald (Lynn) Hultstrand of Edina, MN, Mary Mudgett of Plainwell, Hank Hultstrand of Wayzata, MN; grandchildren Erin Adams, Ryan Hultstrand, Kathryn Mudgett, and Jack Hultstrand. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 31st from 1-3 pm at Farley Estes and Dowdle located at 9170 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083. Donations may be made to the Alano Club 933 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo MI 49001.
