White, Carl Wesley age 75, died peace-fully Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 after bravely perse-vering through Alzheimer's disease. Born on October 4, 1939, in Fremont, Nebraska to Walter and Arlene White, he grew up in Grant, Nebraska and met his elementary school sweetheart and future wife, Barbara Colglazier. They married in 1963. Carl received a B.S. and M.D. from the University of Nebraska in 1961 and 1964 respectively. Carl practiced cardiology, first at the University of Iowa (1970-86), and then at the University of Minnesota (1986-2006). He focused on the needs of his patients, both in the Cath Lab and in outreach visits to Wadena, Minnesota. He enjoyed his involvement in national research projects, and he relished mentoring fellows throughout his career. Carl will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, love of music, beautiful voice, interest in genealogy, and passion for gardening. Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara, and three children Laurie Petruco-nis, of Minneapolis, MN; Cynthia White, of Naples, FL; and Bryan White, of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org). A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Monday, October 27, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis.
