Hanson, Phyllis Josephine (Myers) was born March 19, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND to Robert and Katherine Myers. She attended nursing school at the University of North Dakota before marrying Richard Hanson in August of 1954. They moved to Burnsville, MN in 1960 where they raised their family and resided for many years. Phyllis worked for St. John the Baptist in Savage and the Franciscan Retreat House in Prior Lake besides taking on volunteer positions in the Burnsville community. She was active in the League of Women Voters where she encouraged women to become involved in the democratic process. Phyllis lived for nearly a year at The Wealshire in Bloomington where she passed away on September 13. She is remembered for her love of family and dear friends. She was the consummate hostess with a brilliant smile and a kind, caring heart. Her family treasures the many memories she created as a wife, mom, aunt and grandma. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Dick, and three children - Marty (Cheryl) Hanson of Eau Claire, WI; Stephen (Katherine) Hanson of Eden Prairie; and Karen (John) Tomes of Eagan. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren mourn her loss, along with her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, her brother, Bill, and her sister, Peg. Memorial Mass, 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Memorial visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at White Funeral Home (12804 Nicollet Ave.) Burnsville and one hour prior to the service at the church.
