Walsh, Paul Aloysius age 85, of Bloomington, MN, passed from this world on Sept. 12, 2014. Born on Oct. 4, 1928 in Seattle, WA to Paul and Beatrice Walsh, he was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Cretin High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army with the occupation forces in Korea, attended St. Thomas College, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1953. He married Joan Kathryn Ernst on December 27, 1952. His 41-year career with the Statistical Reporting Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture took him across the country and inclu-ded stints as Secretary of the Crop Reporting Board in Washington, D.C. and State Statistician for Alabama and Missouri. Paul and Joan returned to the Twin Cities after his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered countless hours for VEAP. He always enjoyed a game of golf with friends and made his hole-in-one on July 26, 2001. He built his life around his 61-year marriage to Joan, passing on values and life skills to their 5 children and taking great pride in their accomplishments. He was a scout leader for his sons and volunteer in his children's schools. Preceded in death by his brother, Thomas and sisters, Patricia (Sister Maria) Walsh and Kathleen Traynor. Survived by his wife, Joan; sons, James (Janice), John (Claire), Steven (Michele), and Michael; daughter, Patricia (Brian) Vogt, and grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, Isaac, Julia, and Melissa; brothers, Gerald (Sue) and Edward (Pat); sister, Mary Clare Sethi; 25 nieces and nephews. Visitation at 10 am and Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Friday, Sept. 19 at the Church of Saint Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. S., Bloomington, followed by luncheon.
