Thompson, Richard M. "Pork Chops" Age 74, of Long Lake MN, born Nov. 18, 1939, passed away Sept. 11, 2014. Preceded in death by parents Ina and Arthur Thompson. An adventurous man who enriched the lives of many. Graduate of Mpls. Vocational High School, Augsburg College and St. Cloud State. Proudly taught and coached at Mpls. Public Schools for 30 years. Credited Augsburg College for guiding him toward a career he loved. In return, Dick mentored many of his students and athletes and devoted himself to working for the A-Club. Selected for the Augsburg Athletic Hall of Fame (1990) and Spirit of Augsburg Award (2012). Enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, flying, athletics, and breakfast with friends. His family was a source of love, joy and comfort especially during his journey with cancer. Survived by wife, Jane M. Thompson; children Deborah A. Lerdon (Kevin) and David R. Thompson; step daughters, Tracy Keith (Chuck) and Angela Raddatz (Jeff); and grandchildren Alexa and Luke Lerdon; Allison, Charlie, Noah and Nathan Keith; Talia, Lauren and Jenna Raddatz. Memorial Service Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Augsburg College Hoversten Chapel in Foss Center: 22nd Ave. S. & Riverside, Mpls. Visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment. Memorials, if desired, to Augsburg College A-Club, NC Little Hospice or donor's choice.
