Affolter, Donald Albert Age 68 of Eden Prairie, MN died on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in Skag-way, Alaska, while on a vacation cruise with his wife, Sharon. Don was born October 18, 1945 in Minneapolis to Walter and Clara (Schueler) Affolter. Don graduated from Mankato High School in 1963 and from Mankato State in 1972. Don and Sharon met and wed in Chicago, IL on November 29, 1974, later moving to Eden Prairie, MN in 1979. They were blessed with two children, Laura and Ryan. Don worked for over 30 years as an international tax auditor. Don was a very devoted husband, son, father, brother, and Grampy. He was a wonderful family man who enjoyed family vacations, gardening, live music, volunteering and spending time with his grandsons. In his retirement, Don was fortunate to follow his passion of world travel with Sharon. Don was a member of the Eden Prairie Optimist Club for over 30 years and served in many volunteer programs benefiting area youth. He was well known and respected in the community. Don is survived by wife Sharon; daughter Laura (Ryan) Johnson of Newtown, PA; son Ryan Affolter of Minnetonka, MN; brother Ronald Affolter of Mankato, MN; and grandsons, Benjamin, Evan, and Nolan Johnson. Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Clara; brother John Affolter, and sister Constance Affolter. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Fellowship reception and time to share will follow the service.
