Salter, Mary Gwen 45, of Woodbury (formerly of Willmar) died peacefully but unexpectedly Monday, August 18, 2014, following a brief illness. Her memorial service will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, September 13th, at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 21st at Grove-land Cemetery, located at 101 Minnetonka Blvd, in Minnetonka, MN followed be a Celebration of Life Gathering from 3-7 pm at Dakota Lodge at Thompson Park in West St. Paul. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, hafh.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: First Presbyterian - Youth Mission Projects, Peace Sanctuary Garden, c/o Kristin Miller, 1640 Victoria St N, St Paul, MN, 55117 or SOS Rescue Relief, Inc., Adopt a Pet Shop, 1115 Vicksburg Lane N #8, Plymouth, MN 55447. Mary worked at Catholic Charities of St. Paul in services for the elderly, the Woodbury Humane Society and later as Director of Operations at Animal Ark, a no kill animal shelter in Hastings, MN. Surviving are her parents, Wilson and Barbara; and loving sister, Amy and brother-in-law, Chris Wilson; nieces, Ellen and Kate Wilson of West St. Paul; fiancée and best friend, Melvin Giles of St. Paul, aunt, Judy (Jim) Cumming of Gainesville, VA; and her 4 year old basset, Mr. Phelps. Also surviving are a great aunt, uncles, cousins and many lifelong special friends.
