Dalton spent his childhood pursuing adventures in the hills of Elmwood, Wisconsin where his love of nature began. In 1949 he embarked on a canoe trip to the BWCA that would continue annually for 50+years. Dalton instilled in his children a love and respect for nature and the benefits of optimism and humor. He was an avid reader and gardener. He valued his family and his connection to his many pet cats and childhood goat.
