McGraw, Frieda Rose of Arden Hills passed away on December 8th at the age of 97. Frieda was a woman of great wisdom and integrity. All thirty two of us loved her so much, and will miss her eternally. Our great-great grandmother, great grandmother, grandmother, and mother has passed. She was the third of eight children born to German immigrants in Springfield, MN. Sisters Marie of Colorado, and Dorothy of California remain. Frieda moved to California after high school. Ray McGraw brought her back to the Minneapolis area. They purchased their first house in Columbia Heights and soon thereafter built a home in St. Anthony Village. In 1983 they built another house in Arden Hills. Frieda passed away peacefully in her recliner at the Arden Hills home. Frieda was our matriarch, but not so much in the spirit of Webster. She was our best friend, confidant, source of sensibility, our leader when we needed one, and occasionally our advisor. She was intelligent, up to date on politics, never preached nor criticized. She made each of us feel that we were her favorite person in the whole world. Her mornings included reading the paper, and her summer days were spent in her amazing gardens. She was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed dancing. At the age of 95, in-between yoga and spending time at the Y, Frieda spent time on Facebook. She had many friends in life, and many more online. She learned to make and comment on posts as well as take and post pictures. Her hobby was gardening and she won both awards and praise. The big annual event was Christmas Eve. Santa always stopped by for the little ones, and it seems like each year there was a new baby welcomed. We know that our lives will go on, and we will all look back fondly. Frieda's children are Karla Williams, Dennis McGraw, Linda Lash, Thomas McGraw, Joseph McGraw (Julie). Grandchildren are, Allyson Williams, Dawn Sivanich (Paul), Denice McGraw, Troy Lash, Mark McGraw, Lindsey Williams, Jason McGraw (Jennifer), Jamie Breymeier (Jeff), Hannah McGraw and Isabelle McGraw. Frieda's great grandchildren are Garret, Maddy, Abby, Austin, Danny, Marina, Alexa, Lucas, Bo, Wyatt, Georgia, and Morgan. Her great-great grandchild is Zoey. Funeral Service Monday, December 18, 2 PM preceded by one hour visitation at Sunset Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd., 612-789-3596.
