Robert J. Rood

Rood, Robert J. age 72 of Owatonna passed on December 8th at Homestead Hospice after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in May 16, 1945 to Alice C. (Kurtz) and Owen L. Rood in San Pablo, California where Owen worked in the ship yards during WWII. After the war, the family with 5 children returned to south Minneapolis where Bob attended Minnehaha elementary school. In later years, with family moves to Maple Plain and Hopkins, he attended both Orono and Hopkins High Schools. During the 1970's, Bob moved to Owatonna where he has since lived. Bob is survived by sisters Karen (Col. Buzz Stevenson), Lizabeth (Robert Carlson), Mary Hendler and brother Steve (Joyce). He is also survived by many cousins in the Rood and Kurtz families. He leaves behind many friends in the Owatonna community. A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 2:30 Friday, December 15th at Brick Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna.)
