Anderson, Roger & Mary Residents of St Louis Park, MN, they were married 63 years. Roger,age 84, died of complications from a stomach ulcer on Dec 1. Mary, age 83, died of acute myeloid leukemia on Dec 3. All are shocked by their sudden passing and will miss them dearly. Roger and Mary leave their two daughters, Peggy (Alex) Anderson and Kathy (Mark) Hedstrom; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; Roger's siblings, Ray Anderson and Irene Wiens Menken, and Mary's brother, Edward John Mitchell Jr. They were preceded in death by son, Gary "Andy" (Cathy) Anderson; Roger's parents, John and Violet Anderson; his siblings, Virginia Jensen and John Anderson Jr.; Mary's parents, Edward and Dorothy Mitchell; and her brother Robert Mitchell. Rog and Mary met as students of the University of MN at Rog's fraternity, Delta Tau Delta. They married at Minnetonka Beach, moved to Owatonna MN and started their family and dad's teaching career at the Owatonna State School. They settled in St Louis Park where Roger taught special education, coached baseball, refereed football and basketball and was awarded a masters degree. He was a UMN baseball letterman and went on to play minor league baseball. Roger was an avid outdoorsman, dog trainer, gardener, Mpls Garden Club President, garden service owner, woodduck enthusiast and an active member of the Bear Lake Cabin Owners Assoc. Mary was an artist of many media and loved reading and learning. She was an expert knitter and spinner and co-owner of a yarn shop in Excelsior. She drove a special needs school bus and was a community volunteer. They were long standing members of Westwood Lutheran Church where a memorial service will be held in their honor on Monday, Dec 18. Visitation at 10 am, service at 11 am, 9001 Cedar Lake Rd, St Louis Park.
