Loper, Marjorie Collins October 25, 1921 - November 28, 2017 Preceded in death by husband, John Yerxa Loper; parents, Brig. Gen. Stewart Garfield Collins and Bertha Sisson Collins; and sister, Estelle Collins Berkhimer. Survived by son, Stewart Collins Loper, (Nancy); daughter, Barbara Loper Seaberg (John); grandchildren, Jessica Seaberg Seidlitz (Mike); Marc Seaberg (Meredith) and Thomas Loper, 5 great-grandchil-dren, 5 nieces and 4 nephews. Marjorie was born in Minneapolis. She attended John Burroughs Elementary, Ramsey Junior High, Washburn High School and the University of Minnesota. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and graduated from the University in 1942, cum laude, with a B.A. in Journalism. Following graduation, Marjorie worked for a time as an advertising copywriter in Minneapolis, and later in New York City until the end of World War II. She married John in 1945. They settled in Morningside to raise their two children. Marge was a member of the Morningside Woman's Club, the Edina Woman's Club and the Minneapolis Woman's Club, as well as PEO. She was a long-time member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Edina where she served on the Altar Guild. She loved vacations at the lake, skiing, golf, bridge and spending time with her family. She and John enjoyed several trips to France and England, visiting sites where John had been stationed during the war. She had a sharp mind, a great sense of humor and a gracious and thoughtful personality. Writing was her passion. She was a class act. A Memorial Service will be held at Friendship Village, 8100 Highwood Drive, Bloomington, MN 55438 on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Special thanks to the outstanding staff at Friendship Village High-wood Park for their loving, compassionate care of Marjorie over the last few years. Memorials suggested to the Friendship Village Employee Appreciation Fund.
