Mattson, Connie Age 45 of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota passed away on November 21st, 2017 after a 4 year battle with cancer. She was born June 29, 1972 in Laurium, MI, the daughter of Valerie Lafond and the late Ronald Carlson. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1990 and from Michigan State University in 1995 with a degree in computer science. She then married her high school sweetheart John Mattson on September 3, 1995 and together made their home in Brooklyn Park, MN. Connie was a giving person, with a passion for helping others. She always put others before herself. The focus of Connie's life was her 3 children, faithfully attending their many sporting, music, and other extracurricular activities and helping at school and church. One of Connie's joys in life was going on vacations, which over recent years included trips to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the Bahamas and 3 months spent in Upper Michigan. She also had a passion for learning about alternative healing methods. She was quick with a joke or prank and her sense of humor will be long remembered. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Carlson. She is survived by mother Valerie and step-father Edward LaFond of Ishpeming, MI; loving husband of 22 years, John; children, Jeremy (19), Elizabeth (17) and Rachel (10); sisters Cindy (James) Helppi, Carole Koski and Chris (Mike) Nurmi; brothers Brian (Julie) Carlson and Bruce (Kyla) Carlson; mother-in-law Linda Mattson and father-in-law James Mattson of Laurium, MI; sister-in-law Amy Mattson (who was a constant companion and caregiver over the last few months); brother- in-laws Tom (Christy) Mattson and Dan (Stefanie) Mattson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service 11:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 25 at Faith Lutheran Church, 11115 Hanson Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation one hour prior to service at church.
