Croonquist (Peterson), Ruth Violet age 93 of Eagan, MN died on October 20, 2017. Born on September 22, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Swedish immigrants, Johan Victor and Maria Wilhelmina (Eriksson) Peterson. Ruth's skill at drawing and painting started at an early age when she sketched dresses for her mother to sew - without patterns. Grandma worked at Holtzermann's so she always chose the best green fabrics, transforming Ruth's designs to beautiful garments, bringing out Ruth's stunning green eyes. Ruth's stories of her childhood always included her fond memories of the Pillsbury House in Minneapolis and the friends she made there. She was forever grateful for the Pillsbury generosity for providing the community center. In 1947, Ruth married Garvin Croonquist after a whirlwind courtship of 12 years! They raised two children with much love, encouragement, and support. Ruth also loved to paint flora and fauna artwork and the Croonquist home was adorned by her original creations. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Alrick Peterson, sister Daisy Dornfeld, and husband Garvin Croonquist. Survived by son Dennis (Ann Mulfort) Croonquist, daughter Carol Miles, granddaughter Lisa (Ryan) Nelson, grandson Stephen Miles, and great-granddaughter Sydney Nelson. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's choice in Ruth's name. Memorial service Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 AM. Visitation at 10:30 AM at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave S, Edina. 952.924.4100. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
