Clasen, Shirley Jean (Gadbois) Age 90, of St. Paul. Died peacefully surrounded by family on October 19, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Leon and Mabel; stepmother Lucille; her brothers Charles, Robert, and Michael; also by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard; and two sons John and Joseph. Survived by children, Mary (Mike) Scanlan, Martha Ehman (Dave Bloomstrand), Kathryn (Gary) Pharmer, Sara Braun (Dave Hutchinson), Carolyn (Dave) Hill, Peter (Mary Jo), Paul, (Cynthia Jones), Mark (Becky), Robert (Pam); grandchildren Ben (Amy), Kate (Matt), Rachel, Zack, Mallory, Jesse (Sandy), Madelyn, Emily, and Erin; great grandchildren Andy, Ashton, and Frances; also sisters in law Catherine, Betty, and Kathy Gadbois. Shirley's faith and family were most important to her. Graduated from St. Catherine's class of '49, in Art and Education. Married to Richard in 1950, together they raised 11 children. She was active in choir, CCW, piano with school children, helped at funeral lunches and rummage sales at St. Mark's. Lived at Carondelet Village independently and with care the last 6 years. The family would like to thank the community at Carondelet Village for their friendship and support and especially the loving care she received from Arbor staff and aides. You are all angels on Earth, your kindness to our mom was truly appreciated. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Thursday, October 26 at the Church of St. Mark, 2001 Dayton Ave., St. Paul. Visitation one hour prior to mass at church. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Minneapolis.
