Butler, Hazel Mae Spicer Was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on Sept. 1, 1929 and died on Oct. 14, 2017, at the age of 88 years old. Hazel Mae was the daughter of Cain and Pearlie Mae Spicer, the 2nd of 6 children. Hazel met Robert Butler in 1947. On April 17, 1950, Hazel married Robert, the love of her life, in Jackson, Mississippi. Later that year, they moved to Minneapolis to make a better life for the two of them. Hazel's 1st job was at the Dykman Hotel. She worked there for 5 years. From there, Hazel went to work for the Honeywell Corp. in 1959, and worked there until 1970. At that point, Hazel, who had never had children of her own, decided to take care of the neighborhood children while their parents worked. All of her "kids" love Hazel very much, affectionately calling her "Bubba". Hazel was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on May 27, 1961. Hazel found great Joy in following Jesus command at Matt. 28:19,20 to "Go therefore and make disciples". She carried out this command to the end! Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Cain and Pearlie Mae Spicer, her beloved husband Robert, her siblings; C.J. Spicer, Lucille Spicer-Russell, Annie Lee Spicer-Vance, Leroy "Baba" Spicer and Willie Joe Spicer. She is survived by her special niece, Jewel Lynn Vance; a host of other nieces & nephews; and many dear friends and extended spiritual children.
