Allen, James L. Jr. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Formerly of Minneapolis most recently of Wayzata, MN. Passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017 at the age of 81. Preceded in death by parents and wife Janet Lynne Allen. Survived by Son James L Allen III (Teri); Daughters Susan Allen, Sharon Stavlo, Mary Hendrix (Ross) Carol Schweitzer (Paul) 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Jim grew up in Minneapolis and worked for Powers Dept. Stores and then Hennepin County Public Works until retirement. Jim enjoyed working as a range officer and safety instructor at South Metro Public Safety and Training Facility. Jim will be most remembered for his gift of conversation and having an answer for anything. Jim had a passion for history, trains, cooking, old movies, music and gardening, mostly wild flowers. Celebration of Life to be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, Minnesota 55435 on Friday October 27, 2017 from 2:30-6:00, Service 3:30-4:00. Private Interment for James L and Janet L Allen will be held at Lakewood Cemetery Saturday October 28, 2017.
