Born July 26, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Will Grove died in Woodbury, Minnesota, on Sept. 1, 2017 by his own hand, having endured bi-polar disorder for many years and recently having been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and LaVonne Grove, and his sisters, Sue Bauer and Judy Grove. Mourning his loss are his devoted wife of 42 years, Victoria Grove, his son and daughter-in-law Ed and Deanna Kramer, his grandchildren Ariel and Julia Kramer, all of Woodbury, and his sisters Margaret Grove of Cedar Rapids and Janet Grove of Cedar Falls, IA. Will graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1971, received his B.A. in Philosophy, English, Education, and Psychology in 1974, and received his M.A. in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa in 1977. In 1983 the University of Minnesota awarded him a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. After serving for a year as an assistant research scientist in the University of Iowa Dept. of Psychiatry, Will returned to the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry in the Medical School, and then in the Psychology Department. He was appointed Associate Professor of Psychology in 1993 and Emeritus Professor of Psychology upon his retirement in 2016. In addition to being a dedicated teacher, Will was a prolific researcher and author. The world has lost a brilliant intellect and a generous spirit. A private service is planned.
