Melvin 'Pat' Gilstad

Gilstad, Melvin "Pat" 90, Blackduck, MN, passed away Sept. 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck. Funeral on 11 a.m., Sept. 21, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Blackduck. Visitation 4-7 p.m., Sept. 20 at Cease Funeral Home, Blackduck and one hour before service at church. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck with military honors. Pat was born in 1926 in Saskatchewan, Canada and moved to Blackduck in 1941. Pat served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was an Iwo Jima survivor. Pat married Margaret Stanko in 1947 and they made Blackduck their home. Survivors include his children, Karonne (Galen) Becklin, Joann (David) Cross and Tommy (Julie) Gilstad, all of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Alison, Aaron, Emily, Chris, Taylor, Jordan, and Nathan; great-granddaugh-ters, Annika and Talie; & numerous other relatives.
